Open File Backup
SafeFile is capable of backing up open files. Leveraging Microsoft’s latest Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) it is therefore not necessary to shut down any applications during the backup process.
Seed Load Technology
SafeFile supports easy seed load technology allowing for the initial backup of a large volume of data to be done to a local portable hard disk. This disk can then be shipped to Sterling for the data to be uploaded over our LAN. This eliminates the requirement for the initial backup to be done over the internet which in some cases can take several days thus saving time and bandwidth.
In addition, in case of a data loss event resulting in the loss of a large volume of data, the data can be restored to a portable disk which can then be returned to the client for a local restore. This allows you to be back in business ultra fast.
All data backed up to a portable disk is of course fully encrypted for security.
Pre & Post Scripts
SafeFile supports the most used platforms and applications for SMB’s off the shelf. In some cases additional software and exotic databases must be supported or copied as part of the backup process. To snapshot or stop such applications and databases it is possible to program a script prior to or after the backup or restore process. This script can be any command line sequence in a .cmd, .exe or .bat file.
Command Line Interface
Integrate online backup actions within any existing batch scripts to perform backup / restore or maintenance tasks. By using the command line interface in the SafeFile client software it is possible to automate to the fullest. Combine SafeFile with any third party software to integrate the online backup process within applications to enrich your data management.
